CBD Vape oil

cbd vape pen

CBD vape oil is one of the best and quickest way to get your dose of CBD!

You heard right. CBD vape oil is a great method to get your pain relieving CBD straight into your system, any medication which works through inhalation gets into your system relatively quickly.

CBD oil and CBD vape oil are two different things though, and we don’t recommend you get them mixed up.

CBD vape oil

Is oil which has been manufactured to work with most vape pens. The vape pens work by warming up the oil which allows you to inhale the vapor which is released.

The oil itself is a mix of PG and VG with CBD or hemp oil suspended in the solution.

PG is short for propylene glycol which is used in 99.9% of all vape oils.

VG is short for vegetable glycerine which is used in 99.9% of all vape oils.

Both these ingredients are needed in varying amounts to carry the CBD and additional flavours into your system.

cbd vape oil

The great thing about using a CBD vape oil is that they contain more than just CBD isolate, they contain all CBD’s friends e.g. terpenoids, flavonoids and fatty acids.

These compounds all work together synergistically to deliver what is called the ‘entourage effect’, which means you get more of a benefit and more compounds of the cannabis plant together, without the THC which is responsible for the high.

Terpenoids are the compounds in all plants responsible for the sharp and awakening smell of a fresh orange, tangerine or the individuality of the pine needle.

Some of the most common terpenes include limonene and linalool found in citrus fruits and lavender, don’t worry these are naturally occurring compounds.

cbd vape oil flavored

Flavonoids are phytonutrients which are the main reason behind vivid non green colours in plants. The color we notice in shiny red apples and the deep blue of blueberries is all down to the flavonoids unique to each.

Flavonoids are also known to have amazing antiviral, antioxidant and anti – inflammatory effects. More so those found in cannabis than anything.

Another simple way to remember this is buy buying CBD vape oil which contains full plant extracts.

CBD oil

On the other hand is usually an isolate form of CBD. Which means in its extraction process only the CBD oil was taken out and generally none of its friends are in there, unless of course you buy a full plant extract CBD oil (which we recommend you do)

CBD oil is usually suspended in olive oil or coconut oil, and the best way of taking it is under the tongue, sublingually.

As you can imagine taking it this way is a healthy, quick and easy way to get your dose of CBD but the flavour can be intense. The earthy, ground flavour is one reason why people prefer to vape their CBD oil.

You wouldn’t warm up coconut or olive oil to inhale its vapor, which is why we don’t recommend you try to put pure CBD oil in your vape pen. Opt for CBD vape oil which has been manufactured to be used in your pen.

You can choose from many different flavours and they wont damage your pen.

Another great way to get your CBD vape oil is to buy prefilled pens, which you can use sparingly when you need to relieve your anxiety or pain and they can often last weeks without needing to be topped up or to buy another pen.

cbd oil for back pain

Did you know back pain is one of the most common health conditions effecting adults in the US? Over 54% of people had neck or back pain for five years or longer and 29.9% of women had lower back pain.

Back pain can be caused by a number of things, from small aches and pains to full blown, laying on a hard cold floor unable to get up for anything pain.

It hampers your lifestyle, can lead you into depression and leaves you wondering was it worth it doing that extra dead lift? or if your back can handle one more sneeze without feeling like your entire skeletal system will just fall apart.

Some of the most common sources of back pain may actually be not what you think though! Have a look at some of the causes of back pain and how CBD oil can relieve your back pain and some of the best CBD oil recommendation to help you on  your way to a more active, less painful day to day life.

Common reasons for back pain;

  • Stress
  • Not enough exercise

These are just some of the most common causes of back pain. Each of these can be offered some form of ‘relief’ with the supplementation of CBD oil. Lets go through each one, and see how CBD oil can relieve some of the symptoms.

Stress is a leading cause of many issues, back pain being a main focus. Compounding that negative energy can take its toll on your body. Regular exercise, meditation and walks in fresh air can help alleviate the stress factor in our lives.

Aromatherapy is another great way to relieve your stress, but, CBD oil is now being used to help relieve stress as well. CBD oil works by stimulating our own endocannabinoid system. Our receptors are found in our skin, brain and organs.

Once the receptors have been stimulated, they set off a reaction in our body to achieve effects of pain relief, anxiety relief, anti inflammation and much more.

How this effects stress, is CBD has been known to react with the receptors in our brain to lower levels of anxiety. It reduces our blood pressure and instills a feeling of calm in our minds and bodies.

Studies are now also showing CBD maybe used effectively for those suffering with PTSD and other forms of stress.

Limited exercise

Ask any doctor you see and for the largest part, most will say when you’ve done some light damage to your back the best thing to do is keep moving!

Well, that is a lot easier said than done for sure. when you’re feeling pain or you’re suffering from sciatica or a bulging disc it can be really discomforting to move or walk, never mind exercise.

How can CBD oil help back pain?

CBD oil has been shown to have tremendous anti – inflammatory benefits, which, in this situation can work wonders. Reducing the amount of inflammation around the disc or nerves can help more blood flow to the area, thus allowing more healing to be done.

CBD pure for anxiety

More people are opting for CBD oil to relieve back pain than traditional NSAIDS and pain killers due to the fact that CBD oil has little to no side effects, whilst being able to offer pain and inflammation relief!

The inflammation reducing effects of CBD can help people from fitness addicts to manual laborers. Using CBD oil daily can relieve stress and reduce inflammation everyday, meaning your body is always working to optimal capacity and the vital nutrients you consume are getting to where they need to be.

Many people are succesfuly using CBD oil to relieve back pain instead of OTC pain killers and NSAIDS. But, remember everyone is different and we recommend you discuss with your doctor before stopping any long term prescribed medication.

CBD tinctures: Everything You Need to Know

A lot of treatments are available today which were not in the market just a couple of years ago. As cannabis-based therapeutic products are widely available and continue to grow in importance. The cannabinoids like CBD in tinctures, are showing much promise in treating a vast array of conditions.

CBD oil and other CBD based products are growing more and more in popularity, so let’s have a look at how they can impact your life!

How to use cbd oil

What is a CBD tincture?

A Cannabidiol(CBD) tincture is a dropper bottle which contains active CBD suspended in oil to supplement a diet.  Taking CBD oil this way (drops under the tongue) is one of the most common and best ways to consume CBD oil, which is why many people buy CBD tinctures.

CBD tinctures are produced by the extraction of CBD from the hemp plant, usually from C02 extraction which separates the CBD from other compounds found in the plant. Without the use of any additives, oils or alcohols.

Now the resultant liquid can be mixed with a  carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Now as it is concentrated, it can be much stronger than most other CBD based products.

The final product is very potent with a high CBD content and not more than 0.3 THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol – The compound which produces the psychoactive effect).

How to apply a CBD tincture?

Since CBD tinctures are concentrated, it is best to start with a low dose. Usually 2 – 3 drops taken under the tongue twice a day. But please refer to the manufacturers instructions, as the strength can vary.

Most people take it sublingually (underneath the tongue), as research shows that substances taken sublingually is absorbed faster by the body than any other oral methods.

Whenever taking a CBD tincture sublingually, it is best to hold the drops under tongue for at least a minute to let it absorb before swallowing the rest. You can follow this with water or juice if the taste isn’t to your liking.

Benefits of using a CBD tincture

CBD products is being used more and more to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety, chronic pain and much more. It is being used for cats and dogs to improve general health, fear and anxiety.

The more we learn about CBD and its impact on the body and mind the more we are astounded that, is hasn’t been made more available or even qualified as a medicinal product.

CBD tinctures are showing, meticulously, that they have the qualities of a potent anti-inflammatory and antiseptic compound.

CBD oil tinctures are one of the easiest, and most convenient, ways to consume your CBD. They are small and discreet so can be carried in your pocket. They require not heating, just simply place a few drops under the tongue!

Does hemp oil contain CBD?

cbd for depression and anxiety

The old ‘does hemp oil contain cbd?’ question. T’is one which gets very confusing.

So, lets understand the difference between hemp oil with and without cbd.

Hemp oil, cannabis oil, CBD hemp oil. Whichever term you have found yourself using all typically refer to the same thing. Now, the best term to use typically is CBD oil. But, you aren’t technically wrong for using anything else.

There can just be a difference in how they are marketed and what each product does. Hemp oil is usually ‘hemp seed oil’ which, is a very good additive to a salad but not what we would want to use for our social anxiety or chronic pain.

Hemp seed oil isn’t CBD oil

And be careful of anybody trying to make that claim. Hemp seed oil has been around a lot longer than CBD oil.

Hemp seed oil has been used in the mainstream media as a great addition to a diet for years, they are full of health fats and are exceptionally rich in omega 3 and 6.

They are also a great protein source, as more than 25% of their total calories are from high quality protein. Not forgetting being a great source of vitamin E.

Now hemp seed oil is essentially that. Oil from the seed of the hemp plant. Unfortunately for us, the hemp seed  doesn’t contain much, if any at all, of the pain relieving goodness we are looking for in a good CBD product.

cbd hemp oil

CBD and THC are both made in the buds and leaves of the cannabis plant. Which are then taken and put through an extraction process to remove the compounds and make the medicinal based products we know and love.

So to summarise.

  1. Hemp seed oil is great for a salad
  2. Hemp seed oil contains no CBD or THC
  3. Hemp seed oil Carries no medicinal benefit
  4. Hemp seed oil isn’t CBD oil

Don’t fall for the false marketing trick used by many big companies.

CBD oil for seasonal affective disorder

cbd oil for anxiety and depression

If you or someone you know is dealing with the symptoms of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) then this maybe the article for you. Seasonal affective disorder effects many people each year. If you’re struggling with dealing with seasonal affective disorder. Give this a try.

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a real mental illness. It generally effects people around September up until March/April.

A rare kind of seasonal affective disorder can effect people through the summer and ease of into the winter.

More women suffer from SAD than men and the it usually occurs in people aged between 18 – 30 years old. It has been estimated that at least 10 million people in the USA suffer with this condition. Rarely, does it require hospitalization but if you feel you are really effected. Book into your local health care centre as soon as you can.

Symptoms of SAD can include:

  • A continuous low mood
  • A lot of interest in normal everyday things
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness
  • Feeling lethargic and sleepy during the day
  • Sleeping for longer than normal and finding it a struggle to get up in the mornings
  • Craving carbohydrates and gaining weight
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety

These symptoms can have a big impact and there effect on some people can be severe. Causing issues with them getting on with their day to day life.

What can cause SAD?

Although studies are still being undertaken all the time. The exact cause of seasonal affective disorder isn’t yet fully understood. It is often most linked to the reduction in exposure to sunlight though.

One of the main theories is that a lack of sunlight may stop a part of the brain called the hypothalamus from working properly which in turn may cause :

  • Low Serotonin levels

The brain uses serotonin to control and regulate our mood. Lower levels of serotonin are often associated with people who suffer from depression. Especially in winter.

  • High Melatonin levels

Melatonin is produced by the body. When its dark around us the brain produces the hormone melatonin which makes us sleepy. When its light again, it stops producing melatonin.

It has been discovered that people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder product much higher levels of melatonin in winter than people who don’t suffer from it.

Could CBD treat SAD?

There are some aspect of seasonal affective disorder that CBD oil may be able to help with. CBD oil contains CBD extracted from the hemp or cannabis plant. Pure CBD oil contains no THC , meaning there is no Psychoactive compound in the product. The last thing you want is your mental state getting extra stress!

CBD when taken interacts with our own endocannabinoid system. This system has receptors in the brain, skin, digestive system and organs.

There have been recent studies which have show supplementing with CBD could quickly target and raise serotonin levels. Which helps to boost mood and reduce anxiety. The same areas anti depressants target. The study shows a reduced amount of blood flow to the areas of the brain that are linked to anxiety, like the hypothalamus. CBD can actually have a calming effect on the regions of the brain which are usually over active in people with anxiety.

What this suggests to us is that CBD reduces anxiety in SAD and that, in turn is related to its effects on limbic and paralimbic brain areas.

How might CBD help relieve the symptoms of SAD?

  • Reduce anxiety
  • Improve mood
  • Increase appetite
  • Reduce pain
  • Improve sleep

So, if you’re struggling with the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder this winter then maybe its worth picking up a bottle of CBD oil to see if it can help ease your symtomps.

medical cannabis prescriptions UK.

medical cannabis prescription uk

Let’s cover the UK. Medical cannabis has been legalized in the UK as of the 1st of November 2018. It has been a long hard battle, there has been many notoriously covered cases this year, which pushed the government to rethink their stance on medical cannabis.

Medical cannabis is prescribed in an oral format. It comes in a spray or oil formula. There are also capsules available for products like Nabilone.
Medical cannabis is being used in children with severe epilepsy, chronic pain and other disorders. Currently medical cannabis can only be prescribed by a health specialist, not your local GP.

Applying for medical cannabis isn’t going to be easy, no matter how hard you try. And it is likely, only a very small amount of people will actually get it prescribed. At least for now anyway.

There are currently three products available from the NHS. Each one has a different use but there is a strict criteria for each.

if you’re looking to get a prescription for medical cannabis, it isn’t that easy.

Epidiolex is being prescribed for children and adults with epilepsy. Epidilex is a highly purified liquid containing CBD.
CBD is a compound found in the cannabis plant that has shown great ability as a medicinal product. Epidiolex does not contain any THC (the compound in cannabis which makes you high)
Epidiolex is not currently licensed in the UK but is going through the process, it is still available on the NHS though. Epidiolex is almost 100% pure CBD.

Click HERE to go direct to the manufacturers website for all information regarding usage, dosage and side effects.

Nabilone is currently being prescribed to people who suffer with severe sickness and vomiting associated with chemo. It is usually prescribed as a last resort, after all other medications have failed. Nabilone is taken as a capsule and is a man made product.
Nabilone works in the same way THC does, as such it may make you feel high or stoned. It isn’t actually made from the cannabis plant though, which is interesting. Nabilone comes with its own side effects and warnings. Nabilone has been licensed in the UK meaning it has passed all safety tests, and has a proven medicinal benefit.

Click HERE to find out about dosages, usage, interactions and more.

Nabiximols (Sativex)

Nabiximols is prescribed for people suffering with MS and muscle spasticity. It is a mix of CBD and THC, so essentially it is cannabis in an oil format. It is taken as a spray under the tongue. Given that it is essentially cannabis it does produce a feeling of being stoned or high.

It is a licensed drug and has been since 2003. Although again, its availability is limited.

“The benefits of Sativex are seen as too small to justify its cost to the Health Service. So, you can’t get it on the NHS except in Wales (and even there, it’s not easy to get). Anywhere in the UK, a doctor can give you a private prescription for Sativex if you can afford the cost.” – www.mssociety.org.uk

Even though it isn’t that easy to get a hold of, it is good news that the UK is finally catching up with the rest of the world. Medical cannabis can make a huge difference to people’s lives, especially those suffering with MS, severe epilepsy and other conditions.

New research is being undertaken all the time so maybe in the next few years we will see medical cannabis being prescribed for chronic pain, Crohns disease and more.

CBD the active cannabinoid used in medical marijuana is available from many online stores legally. Due to strict regulations in the UK it can be sold, but cannot be advertised as a medicinal product.

Given these rules there are a lot of people out there selling inferior CBD products.  Just please follow our guidelines so you are buying a quality product from an approved seller.

If it all seems a bit too confusing dont worry! use one of our pre  approved suppliers. We don’t just put any company on our page they have to follow our 5 point quality check list.

The difference between CBD oil and Medical Marijuana

difference between medical marijuana and cbd

Are medical Marijuana and CBD oil the same thing?

There seems to be a growing misconception about medical marijuana (cannabis) and CBD oil. Let’s go over the difference between the two and hopefully, by the end you will know the difference between medical marijuana (cannabis) and CBD like the back of your hand.

First of all, I write cannabis as in the UK cannabis is a more used term for marijuana.

Medical marijuana (cannabis) is, what it says on the tin. It is marijuana which has been approved legal for certain medical conditions in recent times.

Medical marijuana in the USA comes in an oil for ingestion or bud for inhalation. Medical marijuana (cannabis) contains all aspects of the plant. It contains the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes etc, as well as CBD and THC. In the UK currently, it is only available in an oil application.

THC is the compound in cannabis which creates the high, CBD is what we use for the health benefits. But both can work together synergistically to reduce pain, and is the product more associated with people suffering from cancer or other life-threatening diseases.

Medical cannabis oil in the UK has been approved this year 2018 for certain people (a very, very small amount of people) primarily children, who suffer with life threatening epilepsy.

Typically, we use CBD for conditions, such as:

1. Seizures
2. Inflammation
3. Pain
4. Psychosis and mental disorders
5. Inflammatory bowel disease
6. Nausea
7. Migraines
8. Depression
9. Anxiety

THC is now being used for:

1. Pain
2. Muscle spasticity
3. Glaucoma
4. Insomnia
5. Low appetite
6. Nausea
7. Anxiety

So, combined together there is a whole host of condition which Medical marijuana can deal with. But Medical marijuana isn’t easy to get approved for. Unless you live in a state where recreational cannabis use is now legal (lucky you).

We have established medical marijuana (cannabis) contains all the elements to relieve chronic pain but it leaves us feeling high, or stoned. Not all of us want to feel that way, it certainly makes day to day living a little more fun, but a little more difficult.

THC also has some side effects including:

  1. Paranoia and Anxiety
  2. Sleepiness and Lethargy
  3. Impaired memory
  4. dry mouth
  5. Dry red itchy eyes
  6. Headaches

CBD oil is oil extracted from the hemp plant. Now CBD oil unlike medical marijuana contains little to no THC. CBD oil is perfectly legal to buy and it is being used more and more to treat pain, anxiety, inflammation and a whole lot more.

CBD oil is what has been accredited to stop seizures in children and adults. CBD seems to be the extract from the cannabis plant which is more responsible for the health and medical benefits now being investigated.

CBD has little to no side effects, is easily available in an oil for sublingual use.

Looking back at things we now know the difference between medical marijuana and CBD oil:

  1. CBD oil and Medical marijuana (cannabis) are not the same thing
  2. Medical marijuana contains THC which will get you high
  3. CBD contains little to no THC
  4. Both products can be used to relieve pain
  5. THC has more side effects

On a final note. As medical marijuana and CBD are being investigated more, both are being used by people suffering from chronic pain or other health issues. It really isn’t a one shoe fits all approach. What works for somebody else may not work for you.

Top five things to look out for when buying CBD oil

choosing the best cbd products

Buying the right CBD oil can be overwhelming, currently there are lots of products on the market and not all are what they seem. We have put together this small list of qualities for you to look out for when buying a CBD product to relieve pain or anxiety. The best qualities to look out for in a CBD product and what determines a good CBD based product.

Hopefully, this will allow you to choose the highest quality CBD based products, You can always check out our trusted sellers page as we have personally done our checks on these companies and trust that they only sell the best, and highest quality CBD based products.

1.CBD oil not Hemp seed oil

A lot of people get confused, mainly due to sneaky marketing practices, about the difference between CBD oil and Hemp seed oil. When you are after buying a CBD based product it is important to buy a product which states CBD oil, and not Hemp seed oil.

CBD oil contains the active ingredient CBD which is what interacts with your own bodies CB receptors and helps alleviate pain. Hemp seed oil on the other hand contains nothing, well, it contains some healthy fats and is a good addition to a salad for a nutritious kick. But in relation to pain or anxiety relief, Hemp seed oil comes up empty.

2. Whole plant extract

Also known as full spectrum. This is important. When you buy something which is a whole plant extract it involves extraction from the hemp buds and leaves. If it doesn’t state on the bottle what type of extract it is, you could just end up with oil extracted from stalks and seeds. Which generally have lesser amounts and quality of CBD oil in.

Having the whole plant extract means as well as the CBD you will also get the secondary constituents of the hemp plant. Which includes terpenes, flavonoids and other cannabinoids which have been shown to work synergistically with CBD magnifying its effects.

cbd whole plant extract full spectrum

3. C02 Extracted

Co2 extraction is a method used to separate the CBD from everything else in the plant, including THC ( the part which makes you high). The C02 method or super critical method is the only way to extract the oils without using any additional alcohols or chemicals. The result is often a higher quality product, which will also pass the test for halal and kosher friendly diets.

4. 3rd party testing

3rd party testing is a big yes from me. If a company believes in total transparency and the quality of their products they will have no problem with providing you with analysis and test results of their CBD from an independent tester.

This not only reassures you, that you are getting what you paid for, but you are also not getting any nasty surprises which could effectively cause you to loose your job ( random drug tests)

Most companies will have their test results on their web page, if not you can always ask. In fact you SHOULD always ask. It will also give you an insight into their customer service.

Remember CBD products should contain less then 0.3% THC.

5)  Organically grown hemp

This is the bare bones of where your CBD and medical marijuana comes from. Would you want to ingest or inhale something that has been sprayed with pesticides, herbicides and all sorts of nasties?

Organically grown hemp will always be the better option. Hemp is known as what’s called a ‘hyperaccumulator’. This means, the hemp plant easily absorbs anything that is present In the ground it was grown. More clinical studies are being undertaken all the time, to see how the use of CBD can benefit people suffering from all sorts of ailments and even how its helping benefit people with no illnesses to treat.

CBD is one of many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD contains no psychoactive properties. CBD is one of the most abundant compounds found in the plant, and it is the primary ingredient linked the relief of pain and promotion of healthy living.  CBD interacts with the cannabinoid system within our bodies. Our ‘endocannabinoid system’ Which consists of many receptor sites. From the brain, to the skin and even our digestive system. Researchers think that CBD interacts with receptors in your brain and immune system. Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells that receive chemical signals from different stimuli and help your cells respond. This creates anti-inflammatory and painkilling effects that help with pain management. This means that CBD oil may benefit people with chronic pain, such as chronic back pain.

This review shows how effective CBD worked to relieve chronic, hard to treat pain. The review analysed studies from the late 1980’s to 2007. Based on the reviews it was concluded by researchers that CBD was effective in managing difficult to treat pain with minimal adverse effects.

The cannabidiol (CBD) therapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of refractory epilepsy for some with Dravet and Lennox Gastaut syndromes, tuberous sclerosis and infantile spasms. The drug is also being evaluated as an add-on therapy for adults with poorly controlled focal seizures. This cannabidiol product contains virtually no THC. The US Food and Drugs Administration is due to grant a new drug application for Epidiolex on 27 June 2018. The European Medicines Agency is also considering licensing this medication and a decision is likely to follow later this year or early in 2019.

Inflammation is an immune response from the body to deal with external pathogens. CBD has always been linked with reducing inflammation and is now being adopted as primary supplement to people active in the fitness industry.

6)      Reduced the Risk of Diabetes

Chronic inflammation has long been known to play a key role in the development of insulin resistance and therefore type 2 diabetes. The researchers believe that the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD could treat this inflammation and therefore improve the body’s metabolism.

In addition, the immune system, cell growth, sugar metabolism and heart function all also appear to prospectively benefit from CBDs anti-inflammatory properties.
